Corrected on October 21, 2026. A longer stay in Indonesia requires a category that matches your circumstances. An earlier version of this article used an unverified visa name and described broad work and residence rights. That description has been withdrawn. Use the official category and the conditions on the document issued to you.
Start with the purpose of your stay
Immigration lists distinct limited-stay categories for work, investment, education, family reunification and second-home residence. These are separate routes with different requirements. The everyday term KITAS refers to a limited stay permit; it does not describe one universal visa suitable for every applicant.
What should you check?
- The purpose of residence and the activities you actually plan to undertake.
- The applicable category, the sponsor or supporting organisation where required, and the documents for your situation.
- The duration granted, permitted activities and conditions for any extension.
Do not assume that residence automatically authorises employment or that one permit covers all family members. Avoid making travel or financial commitments on the basis of an informal visa label.
Discuss your situation with Forever Legality
Tell our team your nationality, reason for staying and intended dates. We can discuss the relevant assistance service and the documents to review. Approval remains with the competent authorities.
