If you live in Indonesia and are considering permanent residence, Forever Legality starts by reviewing your current permit, the reason for your stay and your sponsor. We explain what is needed to assess the ITAP/KITAP route and agree the scope of assistance before preparing an application or charging service fees.
What is the difference between KITAS and KITAP?
KITAS commonly refers to limited stay permission, ITAS; KITAP refers to the permanent stay permit card associated with ITAP. Holding a limited stay permit does not automatically qualify you for permanent residence. The applicable category, residence history, sponsor and documents must be assessed for your circumstances.
Choose the circumstances to discuss
Family circumstances
Explain your relationship to the Indonesian citizen or resident and whether other family members are included. Each person’s eligibility and documents need a separate review. One family member’s approval does not automatically cover everyone.
Investment circumstances
Explain your current role and ownership in the company, your residence status and the documents available. Company formation and residence permission are separate matters. Establishing a PT PMA does not itself grant KITAP.
An existing permit approaching expiry
Mention your expiry date before discussing a change of status. Reviewing a KITAS renewal may be the immediate priority. Exploring KITAP does not replace the need to keep your existing stay permission valid.
How assistance begins
- We clarify nationality, current permit category, intended stay and sponsor or family relationship.
- We identify the initial documents and matters requiring further confirmation with the competent authority.
- The quotation separates application preparation, follow-up, service fees, government charges and optional work.
- Follow-up and any requests for additional documents are handled within the agreed scope.
Questions before choosing assistance
Can eligibility be confirmed from the permit name alone?
No. The category, residence history, sponsor and evidence determine what needs to be reviewed.
Is approval or a fixed completion date guaranteed?
The competent authorities decide the application. Timing depends on the case and complete documents. Ask for the scope of assistance rather than a universal promise.
Does KITAP mean citizenship or unrestricted work rights?
KITAP is a foreign national’s stay permit, not Indonesian citizenship. Permitted activities, re-entry permission and category-specific obligations require their own checks.
