1. Record three different dates
Keep a record of your entry date, the granted stay expiry date, and the last date on which the visa may be used for entry, if different. Do not rely solely on the visa expiry date. Check your current category and the number of previous extensions; B1 is eligible for one extension, subject to conditions, while other categories have their own specific regulations.
2. Agree on the schedule of documents and attendance.
Prepare your passport, residence permit, and guarantor (if required) according to the relevant office's list. Submitting your application electronically does not eliminate the need to attend the photo and interview, as confirmed by Ngurah Rai's instructions and Karawang Immigration Confirmation 2026. Do not assume that seven days is sufficient for every case.
3. Track the application and notifications
Keep your application number, payment receipts, and appointment date, and respond to any requests for completion. Submitting an application or paying service fees does not constitute an approved extension. If the deadline is approaching or a delay occurs, seek guidance from the relevant office; do not rely on promises of avoiding penalties or guaranteed exit and return.
4. Review the new decision
After approval, review the end date of your stay, passport details, sponsor information, and terms and conditions. Converting a visit to a KITAS requires eligibility and an available pathway; it is not an automatic option for every visitor. The KITAS duration is not generalized to all categories, nor does it assume that the stay automatically grants banking services and insurance.
